Why mediation

A better path than fighting it out in court.

Mediation gives families a private, respectful space to reach agreements that actually work — guided by a neutral professional who keeps the conversation moving forward.

You stay in control

No judge deciding for you. You and your family shape the outcome together, so the result fits your real life.

Far less expensive

Resolving matters through mediation typically costs a fraction of a contested court battle — and a fraction of the stress.

Private & confidential

Conversations stay between us. No public record, no airing of personal matters in an open courtroom.

Good to know

Questions families often ask.

What does a Rule 31 Listed Mediator mean?

Rule 31 refers to the Tennessee Supreme Court rule governing alternative dispute resolution. A Listed Rule 31 Mediator has completed the state's required training and approval to mediate cases that are recognized by Tennessee courts.

Is mediation legally binding?

Mediation itself is a conversation, but the agreement you reach can be written up, signed, and submitted to the court to become a binding order. I'll always recommend you have your own attorney review it before signing.

Do we have to be in the same room?

Not at all. When emotions are high, I can keep parties in separate rooms and move between them — a process called caucusing — so you can speak freely and still make progress.

How long does it take?

Many families resolve matters in one to a few sessions. It depends on the issues involved, but mediation is almost always faster than waiting for a court date.
